About us

About us

The company was founded by NWS's Managing Director, Nigel Savage, in 1986. Nigel has worked in the construction industry since leaving school, starting as an apprentice joiner with Black Country firm William Jackson of Langley Green. After gaining a City and Guilds Advance Craft Certificate with Distinctions, he moved to Shropshire to get married and to start his own business. The rest, as they say, is history!

A reputation for reliability, backed by Nigel's strict standards of quality control, has allowed the company to grow over the past 20 years into a highly respected leading name in the field of building restoration. This success owes much to the fact that we employ own team of craftsmen, and are able to cover every aspect of this very specialised work - it's true to say that there are not many challenges we've not encountered before!

A directly-employed workforce (some of our people have been with us for 20 years) not only ensures continuity and team spirit, it also means we are able to offer a friendly, personal service by caring professionals who are totally committed to the job in hand. When sub-contractors are used, we draw on a small pool of tried and trusted specialists who are able to undertake plumbing, heating, electrics and roof tiling to our own exacting standards. We have a policy of training our staff to a high level of excellence, and encourage them to take advantage of technical and professional courses offered by further and higher education establishments.

Our staff are our best ambassadors! Pride in their work, a refusal to compromise on quality and a genuine desire to create something of lasting merit is all too rare in the building trade, but speak to any of our former clients and you'll hear nothing but praise for the men from NWS! Top-up training for health and safety legislation as well as building regulations etc. is ongoing - even the managing director is not exempt! Nigel recently completed an NVQ in Building Studies at the University of Wolverhampton, and his 16 year old son Ashley is currently attending Shrewsbury College of Arts and Technology on a modern apprenticeship bricklaying course.
